【レポート】USM学生との交流会

On 28 Jan 2019, USM( University Sains Malaysia) students from Malaysia visited our laboratory. Firstly, Professor Ito introduced our laboratory and projects. Next Hasegawa, 1st year masters student of our laboratory, presented his forest restoration research on Fukutsu city. USM students were interested and asked questions about Megurizaka Pond in Yomiya Park and Biotope in Ikiminami elementary school. After their presentation, we visited Megurizaka Pond in Yomiya Park, where our laboratory has designed this park since 2008 with Tobata government office and Tenraiji primary school students. At this park we explained about the shape and vegetation of this park. They walk around and took many photographs of this park. Our way back, we visited a plum grove in Yomiya Park. Plums were in bloom, and impressed USM students. After the field work, we held Workshop for experiencing Japanese traditional culture; calligraphy and origami. It was first time that they had experienced calligraphy, so they looked like fun. We learned and understood differences of natural environment and culture between Japan and Malaysia through this experience.

マレーシアのUSM(University Sains Malaysia)の学生に向けて環境デザイン研究室の紹介を行いました。当日は、九州工業大学教育研究1号棟にて伊東先生の研究室紹介の後、修士課程1年の長谷川君による研究発表を行いました。その後、夜宮公園内の巡り坂池を見学し、大学に戻り、書道や折り紙といった日本文化に触れてもらうワークショップを実施しました。研究室紹介では伊東先生から環境デザイン研究室のプロジェクトや活動、長谷川君から大峰山での活動について説明しました。壱岐南小学校ビオトープについての説明では、駐車場として利用されていた小学校の中庭にビオトープを創出し、自然豊かなビオトープへの移り変わりやビオトープで子どもたちが遊んでいる様子に、USMの学生はとても驚いていました。巡り坂池では、研究室メンバーより、地域の小学校の児童とともに改修作業を行ったこと、改修前より多くの生き物が生息するようになったことなどの説明を行いました。USMの学生は、真剣に説明を聞きながら、池の写真を撮っていました。巡り坂池からの帰りは夜宮公園の梅林を見つつ大学へ戻りました。その後のWSでは、書道と折り紙の体験を行いました。書道体験では、初めて書く漢字に興味を持っている様子でした。また、折り紙体験では、日本の伝統的文化である折り紙の体験が初めてであったとうで、慣れない手つきではありましたが、日本の文化を楽しんでいる様子でした。また、USMの学生との交流を通して、今回のUSMの学生への研究室紹介の中で、マレーシアの学生との交流を通して、新たに知ることがあり、マレーシアの文化や自然環境などについて考えるきっかけになり、異文化理解が深まりました。今後もこのような機会を大切にし、ランドスケープや土木工学について理解を深めていきたいと思います。
